Car Hub privacy policy

This policy is about the Car Hub app for Android phones and Android Auto. The package name is id.rumah.carhub.

Summary

• Car Hub has no account and no login.
• Car Hub has no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
• The developer does not get, keep or sell your data.
• The app sends your location and your search text directly to public map, weather and radio services. These services send back the data that the app shows.

The data that the app sends

Location

If you allow the location permission, Car Hub gets the location of the phone. The app uses it for these functions:

• The weather at your place. The app sends the location to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com).
• The name of your town. The app sends the location to Nominatim (nominatim.openstreetmap.org).
• The EV chargers near you. The app sends a search area around your location to Overpass servers and Nominatim. The servers are overpass.private.coffee, overpass-api.de and maps.mail.ru.
• Place search near you. The app sends the location and your search text to Photon (photon.komoot.io) and Nominatim.

The app uses the location only while you use the app or Android Auto. While Android Auto is connected, the app takes a new position each 2 minutes for the parking spot. This position stays on the phone. The app does not ask for the location in the background.

If you do not allow the location, these functions show less data. The other functions continue to work.

Search text

When you search for a place, the app sends the text to Photon and Nominatim. When you search for a radio station, the app sends the text to Radio Browser (radio-browser.info). A voice command to play a station also sends the station name to Radio Browser.

Song lyrics

When you open the lyrics of the song on air, the app sends the artist and the title of the song to LRCLIB (lrclib.net). The request does not contain your location.

Radio streams and market prices

When you play a station, the phone connects to the server of that radio station. When you open the Home tab, the app gets market prices from Yahoo Finance. These requests do not contain your location.

Deck functions (sideload build only)

The Car Hub Deck build is not on Google Play. It has more widgets for the car screen:

• Air quality: the app sends your location, rounded to about 1 km, to Open-Meteo Air Quality (air-quality-api.open-meteo.com).
• Fuel prices in Malaysia: the app gets the prices from data.gov.my (api.data.gov.my). The request does not contain user data.
• Next event: the app reads the calendars on the phone. The events stay on the phone.

What the services can see

Each service gets the request and the IP address of your phone. The developer does not control these services. Read their privacy policies:

The data that stays on your phone

• Prayer times and the Qibla direction. The app calculates them on the phone.
• The adhan MP3 files that you pick. The app reads them only on the phone.
• Your settings, favorite stations, recent stations and recent places.
• The last location, the last weather and the last charger list, to show data fast.
• The parking spot: the position, the time and your note. The app saves the spot when you tap Park here, and when Android Auto disconnects. You can turn off the automatic save in the app. "Walk there" gives the position to Google Maps or the browser only when you tap it.

Android can include this data in the backup of your Google account. To delete all data, clear the storage of Car Hub in the Android settings, or uninstall the app.

Permissions

• Location: the weather, the chargers and the place search near you, and the prayer times for your place.
• Notifications: the adhan alert at prayer time and the radio controls.
• Exact alarms: the adhan at the exact prayer time.
• Music and audio: find the adhan MP3 files on the phone.
• Foreground service for media: the radio and the adhan continue when the screen is off.

Children

Car Hub is for drivers. It is not for children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new text will show on this page with a new date.
